Former Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto has said that his meeting with Raila Odinga at Capitol Hill on Tuesday was consultative, a move that could further raise eyebrows.

In a brief tweet on Tuesday, Mr Ruto, who worked with Odinga in 2017 polls before joining Jubilee administration with his CCM, failed to expound the nature of their meeting.

"Today we held a consultative meeting with a few leaders in Nairobi," he said in the tweet, which could trigger political tensions in Rift Valley.

Mr Ruto, who served as a minister and Chepalungu MP as well, was accompanied by a host of leaders from South Rift among them former ministers Franklin Bett, Paul Sang and Zakayo Cheruiyot.

Details about the agenda of the meeting remain scanty but a source at Capitol Hill says 'unity, peace and BBI' featured throughout the meeting.

"The most important thing is Building Bridges Initiative and peace. That's what was discussed. Of politics, I cannot authoritatively comment about it," he said.

The ODM party, through official Twitter account, did not also divulge into the issues, only giving a mere update about the visit by the leaders.

"H.E. @RailaOdinga today held a meeting with Leaders from Bomet and Kericho counties led by former Governor Isaac Ruto at Capitol Hill Square. The leaders included formed Cabinet Ministers @HonFranklinBett and Paul Sang as well as former MP Zakayo Cheruiyot," read the tweet.

Apparently, the meeting came at the time Ruto is revamping CCM party. Recently, he picked businessman Zedekiah Bundotich alias Buzeki as his Secretary General.

The team has also been working closely with KANU leader Gideon Moi, a further indication that they are not ready to work with DP William Ruto.

In what caused political jitters recently, Mr Ruto was not recognized at three separate farewell functions of his successor, Joyce Laboso, who died last week.

Energy Cabinet Secretary Charles Keter, a close ally of Dr Ruto, was the one in charge. Mr Isaac Ruto had before pledged to work with the DP.
