Police in Migori are holding a load of bhang nabbed on transit on Monday evening.
According to the police, the bhang worth Sh1.8 million was stacked in seven sacks and was weighing 180 kilos.
Confirming the incident, Migori police boss Joseph Nthenge said that the narcotic was nabbed at Masaba area, after its transporters were involved in an accident along the Migori-Kehancha road.
He said that police who were trailing the vehicle, acting on a tipoff from the public, pounced on it and confiscated the illegal product on Monday evening.
According to the police boss, the accident occurred after the persons inside the Toyota vehicle with registration KCR 228L learnt that they were being traced and sped off.
He added that the police did not manage to arrest the two occupants in the vehicle who fled immediately after the accident, adding that the police had been trailing them for hours.
He added that area police are committed to suppressing the product trade in the region, calling upon members of the public to continue supporting the law enforcers.
Nthenge said that a search has began for the two, only two months after police in the same area confiscated 400 kilos of of the same product valued at Sh4 million.
The vehicle was towed to the Migori Police Station.
