In an interview on KTN News' Point Blank on Wednesday night, the youthful senator dismissed the Punguza Mizigo amendment bill as a discriminative attempt to alienate some Kenyans.

He took issues with the proposal to scrap Woman Representative slots as has been proposed by Aukot, saying that it will be an alienation of more than half of Kenyans.

"Punguza Mizigo got it wrong by trying to discriminate the 47 women who are carrying special interests. Women in Kenya are more than 50 per cent," Kilonzo told Tony Gachoka, the show's host.

In a rejoinder on Thursday, the former presidential hopeful hit back over the remarks, accusing the Kilonzo of engaging in cheap politicking.

He claimed that the senator is making uninformed arguments and seems to not have read the bill, saying that their push, on the contrary, seeks to better Kenya.

"Mutula Kilonzo Jnr is ignorant of the contents of Punguza Mizigo Bill 2019. Cheap politicking isn't our thing at Thirdway Alliance. We think Kenya first," responded the lawyer.

Aukot also wants the reintroduction of a single seven-year presidential term and the removal of Deputy Governor slots

The bill is, however, facing opposition from leading political figures, most of whom are in support of the Building Bridges Initiative borne by President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga.
