A video of ODM leader Raila Odinga struggling inside a gymnasium has gone viral, even as the veteran politician maintained that he's 'mentally and physically' fit to remain in active politics.
Odinga, who turns 74 in January, insisted on Saturday that he's 'going nowhere' despite the appointment to African Union as High Representative for Infrastructural Development.
In the widely circulated video, probably taken in suburbs of Nairobi, Raila, unlike other participants, does not lift weights as required by the instructor.
Further, he can barely jump, although looks perfect given his advanced age. At times he's seen 'too slow' to catch up with the rest of participants.
When his son Fidel Odinga died in 2015, Raila confessed in an interview that he goes to gym at 4am everyday until 6am.
"By exactly 4am am up and in the gym. I jog around and lift weights before taking a shower to start by day officially.
"Usually, I prefer being in the office by 7am. Going to gym has helped me to stay physically fit and that's my routine nowdays," he said.
Throughout the country, Raila, after DP William Ruto and President Uhuru Kenyatta, is arguably one of the busiest politician given given his role in business and politics.
At Yimbo on Saturday, he dismissed calls from a section of politicians who wants him to hang boots.
"I am going nowhere. I will be much around and in fact, despite Criss crossing African capitals, I will be based in Nairobi," he said.
