The political pundit Herman Manyora has taken a swipe on the government spending spree in this era while many Kenyans spend sleepless nights without food in their tables.
Speaking on Citizen TV morning breakfast show on Wednesday, the political analyst said that, it baffles him to see the country at this age of spending over 18 billion on carrying out the census.
Manyora finds the expenditure outrageous adding that other mechanisms would have been devised with the advancements of technology across the globe.
"What are we talking about spending Ksh.18b for the census in this day and age?" paused the analyst.
He opined that with the advancement in Technology, the government should have been aware of the country's population so far instead of spending unnecessarily putting the taxpayer on tougher end.
"Don’t we know how many we are? Can we not do it in a simple way today in the 21st century?"added Manyora
Prof. Herman Manyora stated that as the country is bracing to carry our population census the government should minimize the habit of using such huge amounts of money.
He advised that such money could have been directed to other means for development or even the realization of the government's agenda to the Kenyan people.
The government is preparing to carry out a census which is ever done after every ten years in Kenya to determine the direction and how resources should be allocated based on the population of the certain geographic area
