Elvis Marende has been the talk of the town in Kisumu due to his disorder of being sexually attracted to unusual objects such as big stones and trees.
The man who is said to originally hail from Kakamega is fond of holding and talking to certain types of trees and huge stones in a romantic way.
Residents who know him well claim that he rarely interacts with women.
Marende is a fan of singing “Zilizopendwa” songs to the residents who buy him food and clothes in exchange. A section of residents thinks that he romance with stones just to create laughter.
However, in an interview with Dr Mary Aswan from the Department of Criminology in Maseno University, the victim is likely to be suffering from a mental condition known as Paraphilia.
Paraphilia is a mental condition where a victim develops sexual desires to unusual objects such as stones, trees, cars, clothes or even children.
“One mental condition associated with this is Paraphilia. Victims have unusual sexual desires to objects such as stones. The good thing is he doesn’t feel for children because that can be dangerous,” she said.
According to Dr Aswan, there are different categories of paraphilia including sexual sadism, where a victim enjoy sexual pleasure by harming or causing other people to suffer. Others include Pedophilia, Masochism, Fetishism, and Voyeurism.
