The Odinga family is arguably the biggest political family in the nation and at the same time the most internally competitive.

A good instance is the ongoing bad blood between former Gem lawmaker Jakoyo Midiwo and his cousin and former Bondo counterpart Oburu Oginga.

Only one man remains unquestioned in the family; opposition leader Raila Odinga, a 4 time presidential hopeful and the second son to former Vice President Jaramogi Oginga.

Despite all the problems and the recent series of election losses, a number of the family members are likely to feature in the national and county leadership come 2022.

Here they are;

1. Raila Odinga

The former Prime Minister is likely to again vie for the presidency in 2022 and judging by his nationwide support and influence, he could make true his dream to emerge the victor in the much-anticipated contest.

2. Jakoyo Midiwo

The former National Assembly Deputy Minority Whip is also most likely to make an attempt to wrestle back his former parliamentary seat from Elisha Odhiambo.

3. Oburu Oginga

Though now serving in the East African Legislative Council (EALA), the leader who had initially expressed interest in both the Siaya gubernatorial and senatorial post and the Bondo parliamentary seat could be back to vie for one of those.

4. Ruth Odinga

The former Kisumu Deputy Governor claimed to have won the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) ticket to vie for the Kisumu gubernatorial seat which was, however, awarded to former Governor Jackton Ranguma in 2013.

The two would later work together in a forced agreement and would later support current Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o against her former boss, but might be back to reclaim the seat in 2022.

5. Jaoko Oburu

He is Oburu’s son who is currently serving in Siaya Governor Cornel Rasanga’s government and is being groomed by his father to join the rest of the family in politics.

6. Rosemary Odinga

She is Raila’s eldest daughter. Rosemary was set for the Kibra parliamentary seat in the concluded poll before dropping off in favour of incumbent Ken Okoth.

She is also likely to join the race in the looming race.
