Speaking during the burial of former Nairobi Mayor Charles Rubia in Murang’a on Monday, Uhuru said that he is working with other leaders to end corruption, tribalism, and division caused by political differences.

The head of state said that if these vices will be dealt with, Kenya will be a better place.

“Today we are trying to eradicate the vices that are stopping us from forging ahead. That is disunity among the leaders and the people, tribalism, and corruption. When we deal with this, we shall be able to change the lives of the people of Kenya,” he said.

Uhuru also asked Kenyans to emulate the late Rubia praising him as a patriotic leader who was committed to transforming the lives of the residents in his backyard.

“He loved peace, justice, and hard work. If only 10% of Kenyans emulate this, Kenya will be a totally different country. When Murang’a was under their governance, it would give money, which would be invested in the national government. Where did the money go?” he said.
