Politicians allied to the Kieleweke camp within the ruling Jubilee were on Sunday in a charm offensive in several estates within Nairobi.
In a caravan, the politicians toured Kasarani, Mwiki, Car Wash among other areas.
The MPs were led by vocal Nyeri Town MP Ngunjiri Wambugu who has been the face of the politicians opposing Deputy President William Ruto’s 2022 presidential bid.
Speaking in Kasarani, Ngunjiri said they are supporting President Uhuru Kenyatta on his leadership and fight against graft.
“We are here are people who are supporting the president on the war against corruption. Those who are trying to sabotage President Kenyatta must stop the blackmail,” the MP said.
The tour received low key reception as residents went on with their activities safe for a few.
The Jubilee coalition has been divided into at least two camps; the Kieleweke and the Tanga Tanga teams.
Tanga Tanga is made up of leaders who are supporting Deputy President and his ambition to inherit President Uhuru Kenyatta while Kieleweke is hell-bent to see the DP does not ascend to the presidency according to their remarks.
The two groups have seen political temperatures in the country rise as each tries to discredit the other.
