Amani National Congress (ANC) party leader Musalia Mudavadi will not work with Deputy President William Ruto in the 2022 polls, Lugari lawmaker Ayub Savula has said.
Both leaders have declared their interests in succeeding President Uhuru Kenyatta, with both being seen deploying efforts to realize the bid, three years to the actual poll.
Savula, an ANC member, has said that no alliance should be expected between the two, insisting that Mudavadi must he on the ballot in the much awaited contest.
"Let no one tell hs about Mudavadi teaming up with Ruto. Mudavadi is going straight to the ballot (Watu wasituambie mambo ya Mudavadi kushikana na Ruto. Mudavadi anaenda hadi kwa debe)," he said on Wednesday night.
He spoke on Radio Citizen's Pata Shika show on Wednesday night.
He based his argument on the fact that Mudavadi will not be shelving his bid to back another person again, while the DP is also very unlikely to step back in favour of Mudavadi.
At the same time, he stated that Ruto cannot be Mudavadi's running mate, judging by the constitutional dictate that one person cannot be a Deputy President for more than twice.
"The law says that a Deputy President cannot go for the third time which means that Ruto will be the president and Mudavadi his deputy, which cannot happen (Katiba inasema naibu wa Rais hawezi enda mara ya tatu, hiyo inamaanisha Ruto atakuwa Rais na Mudavadi naibu wake, ambayo haiwezekani)" he added.
Mudavadi was recently in the United States to drum up support for his bid, while the DP has been basking in endorsements from his allies.
