This comes after a local newspaper, the Star published a story about the party's preparations for Kibra constituency by-elections which ODM in a rejoinder, termed fake.

"Ignore the lead story on the @TheStarKenya. We are ready for the nomination exercise in Kibra this Saturday 7th Sept. 2019 at all @IEBCKenya gazetted polling stations. All candidates who were cleared for the nominations are also ready for the exercise. It is all systems go," said ODM on Wednesday.

The party’s Secretary-General Edwin Sifuna was the first among the official to condemn the Star's story saying it is 'misleading and meant to cause confusion'.

ODM then came out to warn the media against publishing "speculations".

According to the party, there are people who are supposed to give the party's news.

"The media should stop their speculative tendencies that are aimed at causing unnecessary friction and tension. We have channels of communication within the party and any information needed for dissemination should be sought from the SG, ED or the Director of Communications," added ODM

The party called on their supporters, members of their party and candidates for the Kibra parliamentary by-elections to come out in large number for the party's nominations on Saturday.
