Thirdway Alliance leader Ekuru Aukot has been dealt yet another major blow after Garissa County Assembly on Tuesday rejected the Punguza Mizigo bill 2019.
In a tweet on Tuesday evening, Garissa Township Member of Parliament and National Assembly Majority Leader Aden Duale lauded the MCAs for rejecting the bill.
''Well done, Garissa County Assembly for rejecting the Punguza Mzigo Bill of the Thirdway Alliance Kenya,'' said Aden Duale.
This comes after leaders on Monday vowed to reject the bill and support the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI).
A section of leaders who had visited Sankuri town in Garissa for a development tour said they had gone through the proposal in the bill and noted that the bill had not addressed issues affecting residents in Garissa County.
According to Garissa County Governor Ali Korane, unlike the Punguza Mzigo Bill, the BBI is based on President Uhuru Kenyatta's Big Four agenda.
This comes even after a section of MCAs last month promised to pass the bill.
However, Aden Duale came out to urge the MCAs to shoot down the bill or risk the wrath of the people.
Garissa County has joined over 14 counties who have rejected the bill on grounds that it seeks to reduce elective posts in the government.
