Pacificah Awuor, a student at Sigoti Complex Girls Secondary School in Sondu is asking for aid to clear school fees balance of Sh57, 641. The amount includes Sh49, 585 from previous term balance and Sh8, 056 for this term.

The 16-year-old girl is the second born in a family of 7 children. She stays together with her mother and siblings in a rental house in Sije, Manyatta estate. His dad separated with the mother when she was in class four.

“I really want to continue with my education that is why I am appealing to well-wishers to step in and help. I was sent away from school last week and up to now I have been unable to go back because my mum is not financially stable to pay my fees,” she said in an interview in Kisumu Monday.

Awuor says she wants to study and become a lawyer. According to her mother Everline Achieng, her first-born dropped out of school due to lack of school fees. Pacificah’s brother is in form two but luckily he got a sponsor.

Everline was working at one of the food joints in Lwang’ni Beach before the kiosks were recently demolished to pave way for the expansion of the Kisumu Port.

“I request anybody who can assist in paying my daughter’s school fees to do so. I have no other way out,” she said. Efforts to get a comment from Sigoti Complex Girls Secondary School administration concerning the girls’ plight proved unsuccessful.
