This is after details emerged that a section of Nyanza politicians were pushing him to have KANU chairman Gideon Moi as his deputy in the next poll.

Homa Bay Senator Moses Kajwang' on Saturday asked President Uhuru Kenyatta to throw his weight behind the duo saying they had what it takes to take over the leadership mantle from him when he retires.

"I pray that he (Uhuru) hands over power to Raila and Gideon," Kajwang' said when the Baringo Senator toured the area.https://www.standardmedia.co.ke/article/2001300627/work-together-in-2022-nyanza-leaders-urge-raila-odinga-and-gideon-moi

But political analysts have warned the ODM leader of running with Moi saying he lacks necessary 'energy' to help him occupy the House on the Hill his fifth stab.

"A campaign is won largely on numbers and what Raila needs at this juncture is someone to inject energy in his campaign. I think it will be hard to sell a Raila and Gideon Moi merger," said Kipchumba Karori, a governance expert.https://mobile.twitter.com/StandardKenya/status/1056461130820919296?p=v

The former Prime Minister was also cautioned against picking Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho who has been in the forefront campaining for the DP position in the Orange party.

"For me Joho is a pure student of Raila Odinga. He is a crisis politician. He hunts his political capital by just hurling abuses. In terms of bringing votes, I think he brings none on the table," Karori added.https://mobile.twitter.com/StandardKenya/status/1056465223757021185?p=v

Echoing similar sentiments, prominent lawyer and political commentator Mark Bichachi said Joho, who is also ODM deputy party leader, was inconsequential in Kenyan politics noting he only came into the limelight when he traded insults with the President last year.

"It was Uhuru who was giving Joho relevance last year, he came out as a brave leader for that period of time, since them he has nothing else to show," Bichachi said.https://mobile.twitter.com/StandardKenya/status/1056463181974040576?p=v

The two spoke during a live political show aired by KTN on Sunday.
