A Member of the County Assembly in Uasin Gishu has welcomed ongoing push for a constitutional change through a referendum.
The Huruma MCA Peter Chomba has also welcomed calls for the creation of a Prime Minister position and the two deputies.
Speaking in Eldoret on Monday, the Jubilee MCA said the posts will help ensure there is an all-inclusive government subsequently ending perennial post-election violence that has been witnessed in the country in the past.
"I support the call for a referendum 100 per cent. By creating the position of a Prime Minister and two deputies, every tribe will feel represented and part of the government. Cases of violence will also be a thing of the past," said Chomba.
The Ward Representative also welcomed proposals to scrap nominated Members of Parliament, and MCAs positions noting that they are a burden to a taxpayer.
"Why should Uasin Gishu have with 30 elected MCAs have 17 nominated ones? Who are they representing? They should be scrapped since punda amechoka," noted Chomba.
Kiplombe MCA Ramadhan Ali, however, said he would only support a referendum that will help reduce a burden to taxpayers.
