Former Machakos Senator Johnson Muthama has laughed off Siaya Senator James Orengo's plot to impeach Deputy President William Ruto.
Muthama says it will not be easy for the Siaya Senator to remove the Deputy President from office.
Speaking at Machakos Golf Club on Friday, Muthama said that Orengo might not get the numbers to send the DP home.
"Impeaching the Deputy President may not be easy as Orengo thinks because he needs numbers to do so," the vocal former Machakos Senator said.
Muthama said Orengo might not have enough grounds to impeach the Deputy President.
"He needs to have serious grounds for his motion to be accepted by the Speaker of the National Assembly" the former Senator said.
Muthama however indicated that Orengo has a constitutional right just as any other Kenyan to initiate an impeachment motion against a holder of public office.
Orengo's plan to impeach Ruto continues to elicit debate across the political divide.
A section of politicians allied to DP Ruto has rubbished the impeachment plot vowing to shoot it down.
The politicians among them Garissa Township MP Aden Duale says the motion will not see the light of the day.
The politicians further claim that opposition leader Raila Odinga is allegedly behind plot to impeach Ruto.
Raila's allies however say that the opposition boss is not sponsoring the motion and that it is purely Senator Orengo's affair.
Orengo says he has enough grounds to push for Ruto's removal.
It is not the first time Senator Orengo is pushing to remove a holder of executive office.
In 1998, Orengo who was then Ugenya MP unsuccessfully pushed for retired president Daniel Arap Moi's removal from office.
The motion flopped as it failed to garner the required numbers.
