ODM leader Raila Odinga will get unconditional support in 2022 polls from Gusii region should he chose to run for the fifth time, Governor John Nyagarama has said.
Mr Odinga has vied unsuccessfully four times but he's yet to declare whether he's interested to run in the race to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2022.
But on Saturday at Gem, Governor John Nyagarama said Mr Odinga is the most suitable to take over, arguing that the ODM leader's record is 'absolutely impeccable'.
"I am still convinced that our boss Raila Odinga is the best to take over. In the last few years, he has show exceptional humility and statesmanship. He's the best suited to take over from Uhuru," he said.
According to him, Gusii region will still back him, adding that ODM should also spread wings outside the former Nyanza region by bringing more people on board.
"Since 2007, we have always supported Raila as Abagusii. We shall do it again. However, we need to spread out wings to other regions to make this possible," he said.
In the last three elections, Mr Odinga has won both in Kisii and Nyamira Counties with approximated voter population of 800,000 people.
The region has witnessed charm offensive from Deputy President William Ruto, who last visited a week ago in Nyamira. He's keen to sway the region in his favour.
