The group is said to have attacked the woman aged 102 in her house and raped her before taking off.

The incident was confirmed by Lower Yatta Sub-county Police Commander Charles Chacha who said that a manhunt has been launched for the suspected rapists.

Chacha was quoted by the Star saying that that the police are also investigating the entire incident and have also applied for a medical report after tests on the victim.

"We have launched investigations into the incident and police are trailing the suspected rapists,” the police boss said.

However, he said that the woman took long to report the matter, and only brought it to the attention of the law enforcers on Sunday evening.

He added that the suspected criminals also assaulted the woman, an ordeal he stated left her with several injuries across the body, including a black eye.

Police are yet to receive a comprehensive medical report.

“It is a very worrying incident that could have been perpetuated by very ruthless people. They badly beat up the aged woman, leaving her with a black eye and other injuries all over her body,” Chacha noted as quoted by the Star.

Area County Commissioner Boaz Cherituch said that the county has been recording the highest rape incidents in the entire Eastern region.
