The County Government of Uasin Gishu under the leadership of Jackson Mandago is keen to ensure the welfare of street families is well taken care of.i
To achieve the objective, the county government has taken the initiative of ensuring these street families has access to food, shelter, clothing and medical services.
In ensuring the families access quality health services the county has set up a clinic at the County owned rescue centre.
Confirming the presence of the clinic in the centre, the acting Director of the Centre, Ester Serem, said they had a fully functional clinic and had even hired a nutritionist.
"We have a clinic that is fully equipped with necessary medications. A Nutritionist is also present to take care of the children's diet,"stated Serem as recorded in Uasin Gishu County government Facebook Page.
The initiative which started last year has seen many young people transformed after going through rehabilitation and counselling with many children who used to roam while begging in the streets are now ready to get back to school.
Drug addicts have not been left behind as they have been rehabilitated and given food something which has greatly helped to boast their health which had deteriorated much.
These initiative has seen the number of street families in the town drop.
