A middle aged man shocked residents of Entanda village in Matongo Sub-Location, Marani Sub-County when he consumed poisoned after his wife allegedly stole Sh30,000 from him on Tuesday.
Area assistant chief Stephen Oginga confirmed the incident saying the deceased Alloys Amenya, a carpenter, arrived home from work and found his wife missing.
"Amenya quarreled with his wife in the morning while he was leaving to work not knowing the quarrel will make his wife to flee from home," he said, adding that Sh30,000 was missing.
The chief said the deceased threatened to end his life but his family members could not take his threats serious.
"He went to a local shop where he bought Amitraz, a drug used to kill parasites and consumed it. Effort by his family members to rush him to hospital did not bare fruits because he died on arrival at Marani Sub-County hospital," said the chief.
Oginga said the body was moved to Nyangena Hospital morgue in Kisii by the police.
The administrator said the couple had no child together, adding that the wife is yet to be found.
