Uasin Gishu Women Representative Gladys Boss Shollei has described former Agriculture CS Mwangi Kiunjuri as a formidable politician.
Speaking during an interview with Citizen TV on Tuesday, Shollei warned her critics against wishing him away following his sacking by President Uhuru Kenyatta a week ago.
"Mwangi Kiunjuri is a formidable politician; he was going to be governor, the President requested him not to run in politics so that he can appoint him. You can be sacked by President but if the “wananchi” are with you, “ogopa raia," she said.
His sacking was touted to have had a political undertone. Pundits led by political analyst Prof Herman Manyora said that his sacking was just a way by Uhuru to get back at Deputy President William Ruto who Kiunjuri has been seen to cosy up to recently.
In a hard-hitting statement following his sacking, Kiunjuri said he has been in politics for 25 years and he cannot be wished away.
“I have courage, determination and faith, knowing that it will be bumpy and challenging. I shall remain independent, principled and firm as I have been throughout my political career,” said Kiunjuri.
