Secretary of Innovation, Digital and Diaspora Communication in the Office of the President Dennis Itumbi has accused the state of unlawfully detaining Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria.
Mr Kuria was arrested on Friday and subsequently locked up at Kilimani Police Station within Nairobi area.
Writing on Twitter, Itumbi, who claimed to have been beaten on Friday, now says Kuria is being incarcerated without trial.
He said the court had allowed Kuria out having paid Sh50,000 cash bail, adding that authorities are yet to release him.
The Court yesterday released Hon. Moses Kuria on condition he paid Shs.50,000 cash bail. He complied with the Court Order. Police upon being served demanded for verification. Which they got. What is happening now is.....#DetentionWithoutTrial," he tweeted.
Mr Kuria is being accused of assaulting a woman at Royal Media Services offices in December 2019 during a show.
Thirdway Alliance boss Ekuru Aukot accused the state of disrespecting court orders, arguing that the country is being turned into a police state.
"The disobedience by #JubileeGovernment of court orders in the cases of both @MigunaMiguna and now @HonMoses_Kuria as well as many others is worrying. Are we going back to the tyrannical one-party state of the KANU era?" he wrote.
