He said all politicians from the Western Kenya region eyeing to occupy the 'house on the hill' must settle on a single candidate in a strategy that will enable the community to produce Kenya's next Head of State.

Speaking at Emusire High School, the COTU boss promised to personally donate Sh500 million to lead a fundraiser that will ensure the chosen Luhya candidate has billions to spend during the campaigns.

"Musalia Mudavadi, Moses Wetang’ula and Wycliffe Oparanya have all declared their interest in the top seat. We will decide among the three and any other person who shows an interest in the seat and support them to the last man, but we need Sh10 billion for the campaign,” Atwoli said, as quoted by the Standard.

The veteran trade unionist observed that lack of unity and financial muscle was what had made the community fail to rise to power.

He added that in 2022, they would pick the most popular politician within the region to be Luhya flagbearer.

"We will conduct an opinion poll to get the most popular candidate and even subject them to nominations," he said.

Atwoli spoke over the weekend during the homecoming party of Emuhaya MP Omboko Milemba.
