A section of Maasai community leaders has pledged their support for Deputy President William Ruto's 2022 presidential bid.
Led by Narok governor SamuelTunai and his Kajiado counterpart Joseph Ole Lenku, the leaders said they will rally their supporters to vote for the DP as the next Head of State.
They spoke in Narok county on Saturday during the burial of a senior chief Samuel Korieta where Ruto also attended.
"Our three counties are considering forging a united front. We shall walk with you since you have been instrumental in the development agenda of the Maasai people," Tunai was quoted by Daily Nation.
"Some are telling me to forget about the succession debate but let me say today that I will rally the Maasai community to support Dr Ruto so he can win the 2022 elections," added Ole Lenku.
The leaders from the Maa community also praised Ruto and the Jubilee government for initiating numerous development projects in the region.
When he addressed mourners, DP Ruto revealed that the Jubilee government had set aside Sh3 billion and Sh5 billion for construction of roads in Kajiado and Narok counties respectively.
He, however, steered clear of the 2022 politics.
