Speaking to members of the press on Thursday at his new office at Treasury building, the former Marsabit governor said that his primary focus would be on President Uhuru Kenyatta's legacy projects despite pressures emanating from limited resources and other matters.

"I know there's a lot of pressure at the moment in terms of resources and a number of other matters but we are going to streamline to make sure that the priority will be given to the presidential legacy, " he said

Ukur took over Thursday hardly a day after embattled CS Henry Rotich was indicted by the Director Public Prosecutions (DPP) Noordin Hajji over a raft of corruption charges relating to the Kimwarer and Aror dams' scandal.

In a strongly-worded statement to the media, DPP Noordin Hajji accused Rotich of abuse of office and engaging in projects without prior planning.

Over 20 billion shillings is said to have been lost in the dams' scandal even as Ruto-backing allies insist that no money was lost.

A court that granted Rotich and his co-accused bail ordered them not to go back to their offices until the lawsuit filed against them are determined.
