Speaking when he launched the JKIA-James Gichuru Road expressway, Uhuru welcomed Sonko to speak but asked him to steer clear of politics of division.

"I will give them the microphone but when they start cheap political I will take it away  (Mimi napatia hawa mic lakini wakiongea siasa duni nitawanyang’anya),” he said, as quoted

Uhuru, who was accompanied by First Lady Margaret Kenyatta and other leaders, asked government officials not to engage in sideshows at the expense of development.

He said that his government is committed to delivering the promises he made to the people when seeking campaigning.

He dismissed claims that he intends to use the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) to cling onto power.

He reminded those in attendance that the report is not aimed at creating government positions for some leaders as has been said.

Sonko on his part asked the president to assist him to fight cartels after it emerged that they had grabbed land meant for the squatters.

The governor opined that the cartels have frustrated his government, and asked President to intervene before it is too late.

On his part, Uhuru said cartel’s days are numbered.
