Former Garissa Finance Executive Idriss Mukhtar who survived an attempted assassination in August is still in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Milimani Magistrates court heard on Wednesday.
Investigating officers probing the attempted murder told Milimani Chief Magistrate Francis Andayi that Mukhtar is still on life support machine.
The investigation officers while opposing an application by two suspects who have been charged in the case to be released on bond said that granting bond will be endangering Mukhtar’s life.
The prosecution said that the suspects, Mohamud Hussein Aden and Juliet Njoki, are lethal and could injure Mukhtar and his family if released.
“The subject of these case is still on life support machine and granting the suspects their freedom will be putting his life in danger,” Senior Assistant Director of Public Prosecutions Solomon Njeru told the court.
Njeru asked the court to deny the suspects bond pending trial.
The court will rule on September 18 on whether to free the accused persons or not.
Mukhtar was shot several times on the head and is admitted in ICU at Nairobi hospital.
His family has been appealing for financial aid to settle rising medical bills.
Detectives say that they are hunting for more suspects who were involved in the execution of the attempted murder.
