Renowned businessman cum politician Don Bosco Gichana has hailed 'famiiy, friend and lawyers' who stood with him for over five years in Arusha prison.
Mr. Gichana, a close ally of Raila Odinga, pleaded guilty to money laundering and fraud charges and subsequently sentenced to five years in prison.
But because he had already served the said duration in detention, the judge ruled, he only needed to pay Sh15 million to secure his freedom.
On his Facebook page, a delighted Bosco could not hide his joy upon arriving in Kenya.
"Thank you Counsel, Family, Friends and everyone who has been with me in this journey. I'm FREE and Back to my MOTHERLAND Kenya. May God Bless You.
"Let me grab some sweet nyama choma, I missed it!😋Photo: Earlier on with our Lawyer, flanked by family and friends at the Namanga OSBPO," he wrote.
Mr. Gichana is expected to hold a homecoming ceremony in his Gusii backyard and a source intimates that he is likely to make stopovers at Keroka and Kisii town.
Already, there are talks in town that the youthful politician could team up with Simba Arati for a possible battle in Kisii County gubernatorial seat.
