The woman identified as Mama Arfon Farah Mohamed is reported to have been sleeping when disaster struck.

This happened even as the Kenyan meteorological department issued caution to residents over possible floods and lightning strikes.

Barely a week ago, the Meteorological Department, in a press release, announced that heavy rains would be expected in several parts of the country including Garissa, Mandera, Mombasa, Tana River and the North Rift regions.

The department also stated that the expected rains would be accompanied by very strong winds and large waves, especially along the coast.

According to the weather forecast update, the rains are expected to intensify to a high of 40mm up from 30mm within 24 hours effective Thursday 25 October 2018.

Residents are, therefore, consequently advised to continue being cautious even as the department assured of real time updates if the conditions keep on change significantly.
