Speaking in Embu on Sunday, Ruto accused Odinga of purporting to assume roles of Director of Criminal Investigations and Director of Public Prosecution, adding that the former premier should change his tactics.

To successfully fight graft, Ruto stated that the opposition chief should consider tabling concrete evidence in relevant institutions instead of spreading 'propaganda' on corruption-related matters.

"Some people keep on lecturing us on the fight against corruption in funerals and gatherings. He's not DCI, he's not DPP. He's not a lawyer, he's nothing, he's just a busybody.

"He's just dwelling on propaganda. If he has evidence in all corruption related matters, why can't he take evidence to relevant institutions so that corrupt people are arrested? he asked.

Jubilee administration has struggled to tame graft lords, with President Uhuru Kenyatta often threatening to have those implicated jailed.

Last week, Mr Odinga shifted blame to the judiciary, insisting that it's being misused by cartels in the fight against corruption. He dragged in the case where anti-corruption crusader John Githongo was slapped Sh27 million over an alleged defamation.

“The Judiciary is either with us in the resolve to tame graft or is lumped together with the opponents of the purge,” he said. He warned that damages slapped on Mr Githongo would undermine the spirited war against graft. “The law must protect whistleblowers,” he said.
