Nominated Senator Isaac Mwaura has opined that President Uhuru Kenyatta might not leave a good legacy at the end of his second term in 2022.
Mwaura argued that Uhuru's legacy is being threatened by two things that need to be fixed urgently.
Speaking on Citizen TV's Day Break Show on Monday, Mwaura said Uhuru's Big Four agenda is on the verge of collapsing, adding that corruption and the ongoing 2022 succession debate are likely to hinder the realisation of Uhuru's legacy.
Mwaura said that wanton graft being witnessed in the Jubilee government is of serious concern. He said that unless Uhuru stands firm in the war against graft, he might not have the funds to fully implement the Big Four agenda.
"President Kenyatta is staring at leaving a bad legacy at the end of his term in 2022 if he fails to tame graft," the senator said.
Mwaura also asked the Head of State to call to order politicians engaging in early campaigns.
The lawmaker noted that politicians have abandoned their work and are lobbying for political seats in 2022.
He said it is too early to think about the upcoming polls, adding that the country's development is likely to stall as politicians hunt for seats.
Mwaura further said that the ongoing 2022 succession debate is likely to cause divisions among Kenyans as some of the utterances being made by politicians could easily spark animosity.
The 2022 succession debate continues to rage on as some top politicians lobby for top seats.
The succession debate has further been fueled by the renewed fight against corruption.
A section of politicians allied to Deputy President William Ruto is accusing the Director of Criminal Investigation (DCI) George Kinoti of allegedly using corruption to block the DP's 2022 presidential bid.
Kinoti has since rubbished the claims, saying he will not be intimidated as his job is to serve the taxpayers.
