If President Uhuru Kenyatta wants to leave a lasting legacy and win the war on corruption, he must stick with his handshake partner ODM leader Raila Odinga, former Mukurwe-ini MP Kabando Wa Kabando has said.
According to Kabando, Deputy President William Ruto and his allies were out allegedly to sabotage Uhuru's administration, and it's only by joining hands with Raila the Head of State will survive the onslaught from Tanga Tanga faction.
"I don’t support Uhuru because he’s the best or hasn’t failed. Nay. I support my President because I know if he’s freed from merchants of impunity, and Ruto, he means well. That’s why he must stick with Raila. But we must enrol other nationalists. Urgently. Or the worst comes," he tweeted on Tuesday
Kabando claimed Ruto was using his allies such as Kandara MP Alice Wahome, who recently referred to Raila as a 'mercenary for hire', to fight Uhuru so the handshake and the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) can collapse and leave the president exposed.
"MP (Wahome) insulting Raila Odinga as Uhuru’s “mercenary for hire” fully copies Ruto’s endless rants on Raila, handshake, BBI. Is a famed crude Tangatanga narrative. Shows how low they have gone. Missiles against Raila are meant for President Uhuru. Fact: Uhuru/Ruto fallout irredeemable," he said.
The former legislator urged the President to dump Ruto, who he claimed was 'greedy for money and power', and form a coalition with other partners who will help him make his second and final term in office a success.
"Conclusion: let’s NOT use hammers to kill mosquitos. Let’s appreciate that though salt and sugar look alike, their tastes are unlike. Time for national rebirth is NOW. But it won’t happen UhuRuto way. Another way is the only way. A coup by Ruto is unimaginable. God help Kenya," Kabando added.
