ODM Director of Communications Philip Etale has called for integrity and honesty among public officers.
In a tweet on Saturday, Etale pointed out that some state officers are busy stealing public monies and contributing them to the church in the name of 'investing in heaven'.
He said that the same has left Kenyans impoverished, claims that have been common in ODM, with members questioning the source of the millions Deputy President William Ruto has been contributing in churches.
"Ahem. I equally have a problem with people who STEAL from the public, impoverish them and then take the loot to the Church in the name of investing in Heaven. That’s the World we live in. Fair it is," he tweeted.
This was in response to Emanuel Tallam, the Communication Director in Ruto's office, who had taken issue with ODM leader Raila Odinga's opposition to church contributions.
In a tweet on Friday, Tallam suggested that Raila could be having issues with church fundraisers due to his disbelief in God.
"Raila has a problem with people who fundraise for Churches. Fair enough. I have a problem with people who don't believe in God. Fair or not?" he had posed.
He made the remarks only hours after Raila's interview with Citizen TV, where he called upon the DP to step aside and let the investigative bodies look into the source of his money.
