Detectives have recovered Administration Police’s G3 rifles after a major crackdown. Four suspects have since been arrested in connection with the loss of the ammunition.
The suspects reportedly broke into a police post in Nandi South and made away with the rifles. It, however, remains unclear why the thugs stole the ammunition from the police.
The arrest and recovery of the firearms come after the detectives conducted a thorough search in various homes in the country.
“Three firearms and ammunition that were stolen from an AP Camp in Nandi South were last night recovered following an intelligence-based operation in Nandi, Kakamega and Uasin Gishu counties,” DCI said on its Twitter handle.
The police arrested one Fredrick Khamisi before he led them to the house of Gladys Chao. The suspects later took them to two abandoned houses where they found the guns.
The officers later arrested Stephen Njoroge and Josphat Kinyanjui. The police also confirmed recovering two guns following the swoop in the area after the matter was reported.
The DCI has confirmed that the suspects are still in custody and they will be arraigned in court on Monday. He also warned the general public against engaging in criminal acts.
The DCI also asked the members of the public to support the police in their quest to deal with crime in the region.
