In a blistering tweet on Monday, Steve Ogolla said that by attacking Environment Cabinet Secretary Keriako Tobiko and praising President Uhuru while at it, the politicians were taking Kenyans for fools.

He described the resistance as mistaken and disruptive, saying that the ruling Jubilee Party leaders were not at liberty to attack the government as they were part of that government.

"JUBILEE MPs resisting Mau Evictions are mistaken &unnecessarily disruptive. As part of the ruling administration, it cannot be open to them to approbate and reprobate government decisions. Attacking CS Tobiko while claiming to support the President is to take Kenyans for fools," Ogolla's tweet read.

A section of Rift Valley leaders have strongly opposed the evictions that the Ministry of Environment says is aimed at protecting the Mau Forest, which is an important water catchment area.

The leaders hold the view that the national government should have no role in the contested Mau area inhabited by settlers as it is trust land that belongs to the County Government of Narok.

Narok Senator Ledama Ole Kina, however, threw his support behind the controversial eviction plan and warned the Mau settlers and their political defenders.
