A nominated Member of County Assembly (MCA) in Kisii County has condemned the brutal killing of a famous businessman in Magena market, Kisii County.
Margaret Bonareri Atina who was nominated on a PDP ticket, said the killing of a businessman Zabron Nyakibwoga is an indication that police officers are doing nothing to ensure security is beefed up in the area.
"It is sad that Nyakibwoga was killed yet we have police officers who are required to patrol day and night to ensure residents are protected. I urge police officers to fast track investigations to ensure those behind the killing of Nyakibwoga are brought to book," said Bonareri at Magena market on Saturday evening.
She called upon Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i to intervene and improve security in the region.
According to her, police officers are sleeping on the job, something that has made criminals to take advantage of the their laxity to attack and kill innocent people.
"I'm appealing to Matiang'i to move the current police officers to other regions and bring new officers who are ready to work and protect our people. We can not continue losing our people yet the officers are idling, sleeping in their houses," she stated.
She said Nyakibwoga's killing came after two minors were raped and killed in the area.
