Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa has hit out at the Ministry of Education of closing down schools across the country due to poor infrastructure.
Barasa on Friday said it’s the government that has failed to ensure that students have a conducive environment for learning.
"We all know that there are schools across the country closed down by the government because of poor infrastructure, as members of parliament we will not allow the Kenyan children to suffer because the government has failed to provide funds to improve the infrastructure in our schools,” said the Jubilee Party vocal MP.
"The Education ministry under the leadership of our able Prof. Magoha should wake up and move with speed to correct the mess because it's not the duty of the students or teachers to build classrooms it's the mandate of the government,” added the Kimilili MP.
This comes after the government through the Ministry of Education ordered the closure of all unregistered schools offering basic education in the country since most of them have been established without following the due process, some operating without licenses.
This is after it was established that Precious Talent School in Nairobi where eight pupils died after a section of a classroom collapsed on them had not followed the stipulated rules.
