Kisii Governor James Ongwae on Tuesday appealed to Nyamira leaders to show up to welcome President Kenyatta.

"I'm appealing to my colleagues from Nyamira County to turn up so that we can welcome the President together. Snubbing the President's trip will create a bad picture," he said.

According to Ongwae, the projects the Head of State will commission in Kisii won't be for Kisii residents alone.

"Nyamira people will also benefit from the projects Mr. Kenyatta will commission on Wednesday. Let Nyamira leaders feel free to join us in Kisii to be with Mr. Kenyatta," he added.

Ongwae challenged Nyamira and Kisii residents to turn up in large numbers to witness the Head of State commissioning the projects.

"This is not time for politics residents to boycott the President. I wish to tell residents in the two Gusii counties to show up and share with the President," noted the opposition governor.

He urged police officers to be vigilant to deal with any mayhem which may arise.
