When he came to Kenya in 2015 as president, Obama promised to tag his beloved wife Michelle along on his return trip as a private citizen.
From what we have seen, that promise has not been fulfilled as the former first lady was conspicuously absent in the two-day Kenya trip.
Scores of Kenyans have been expressing their disappointment and vexation at the snub.
Here is what the residents of Garissa had to say about Michelle's absence:
"It is very unfortunate that she chose to be with Beyonce rather than the relatives of his husband," Guyo Ahmed says.
"Her absence in this trip is condescending. As a Kenyan, I feel very bad," Hassan Burale says.
"This is not like Michelle, I expected better from her," Hasheem Dule says.
"I hear that she chose to reunite with her friend Beyonce. That tells you her attitude towards Kenyans. Very, very unfortunate," Busaid Nadhif says.
"Kenyans are a strong people. Her absence will not kill us. Let her stay away," Yusuf Sayed says.
