Police officers in Kisii have launched a manhunt for a middle-aged woman who is reported to have kidnapped her employer's baby.
Confirming the incident, Kisii Central OCPD Tom Mutisya said the house help is said to have kidnapped the two-year-old baby on Monday morning.
Addressing journalists at his office on Wednesday, Mutisya said the child's parents found no one at home when they came back from work on Monday evening.
“The child, identified as Eliud Onyango, used to live with his parents in Mwembe Estate. His parents came home from work on Monday evening only to find the house help and the child missing. Their search has not borne any fruits as the woman is still at large," said Mutisya.
Mutisya said the house help, identified as Gladys Mokeria, hails from Nyamache area.
“We have already contacted her parents but they have said they are not aware of her whereabouts. We have summoned them to record a statement with us," added the OCPD.
The police boss further warned parents in the area against employing house helps without conducting a thorough background search in a bid to tame such cases.
He further appealed to the public to report any information that the may have about the suspect's whereabouts.
