As his motorcade snaked from Riat towards Kibuye, a section of Kisumu residents waited for him at the Kondele fly over.

“Obado! Obado! Obado!” residents chanted as the ODM leader was getting ready to address them an indication that they wanted him to speak about tribulations facing Migori Governor Zachary Okoth Obado.

The former premier, however, avoided the topic, and instead spoke on various issues among them the Migingo Island, 8% Value Added Tax (VAT) on fuel and fighting corruption.

Kenya and Uganda have been on collision course regarding the ownership of Migingo Island, in Lake Victoria.

“Migingo en marwa,” he said. It loosely translates to Migingo is ours.

“If he does not want to talk about Obado it is okay,” one of the residents was heard saying.

Obado is facing allegations of aiding the murder of Rongo University student Sharon Otieno.

The governor has, however, denied the allegations leveled against him.
