A nurse at Shalom Community hospital in Athi River who was implicated and arrested in connection to a disturbing video where a woman was left to give birth on the floor, has been freed by the court on a Sh50,000 cash bail.
Edna Nyarangi was arraigned at a Mavoko Law court on Tuesday, and charged with unprofessional conduct.
Reports on Citizen Digital indicate that he suspect pleaded not guilty to the charge, and was granted Sh200,000 bond or an alternative cash bail of Sh50,000.
The same court, however, ordered for the detention of Thomas Ndolo, (Shalom hospital administrator) for three days to allow police complete investigation into the disturbing incident.
The case will be mentioned on April 29.
The two were arrested on Monday after officials from the county and national government visited the hospital.
Their arrest came after a video of the woman giving birth at the hospital's reception area as nurses drunk tea went viral.
The incident was condemned by Governor Alfred Mutua who said he will not allow rogue health operators in Machakos.
Former Kathiani MP Wavinya Ndeti also condemned the incident and called for an audit of all Machakos hospitals and health centers.
