Former Mukurwe-ini Member of Parliament Kabando wa Kabando has accused Senate Majority Leader Kipchumba Murkomen of failing to offer wise counsel to Deputy President William Ruto.
Kabando claimed after Jubilee took over power, Ruto considered himself as being equal to President Uhuru Kenyatta, saying Murkomen should have warned the DP against the move.
He said instead of the Elgeyo Marakwet Senator advising Ruto, who is his close ally, he cheered him on and lashed out at those who tried to offer a contrary opinion.
"The problem in Kenya is that the DP from the very onset deemed himself as co-President, defying the spirit and letter of the constitution. And instead OKM (Onesimus Kipchumba Murkomen) playing advisory, they became a cheering squad. If anyone tried to mend, demonization happened. UhuRuto was a big mistake," Kabando tweeted on Saturday.
He was responding after Murkomen dismissed calls by ODM party leader Raila Odinga for the return of Prime Minister position.
"This is pure deceit. How can you possibly respect the PM who plays no key role in the political victory of the President if you can’t respect the DP who formed a political coalition with President. If you can’t assign responsibilities to the DP better scrap the position and create PM," the Majority Leader said.
Raila had proposed the creation of PM post among other changes in the final report by the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) task force, which is currently being subjected to public participation.
"We are changing the structure of the executive introducing the Prime Minister, and also changing the structure of parliament introducing ex officio members where cabinet ministers will seat in parliament," said the ODM boss.
