Uasin Gishu County Assembly speaker David Kiplagat has called on the National Government to send qualified divers to help in the retrieval of Maseno University student Nicholas Kipleting who drowned in River Moiben 8 days ago.
The Bachelor of Science student drowned on 26th December and up to now, the body has not been found despite numerous efforts.
Speaking to the press after he joined the family members in the retrieval mission at River Moiben Kiplagat on Thursday, Kiplagat insisted on the importance of having qualified personnel to retrieve the body.
"First I want to send message of condolences to the family and friends of the deceased. I call upon the National Government to give us qualified divers from different forces to help in," said the speaker.
The deceased was bathing when he slid and drowned into the River Moiben.
"The local divers from the community are still trying their best but their efforts have not borne any fruits since they don't have equipment thus need reinforcement to make the exercise successful," added Kiplagat.
The victim's elder brother Bensolus Kiprono on Wednesday while addressing the press called on both the County and National Government to help them find the body of the deceased in order to give him a decent burial.
