Honey has a lot of benefits to our health. It can also be used for other purposes at home like treat ailments, as a face mask, for exfoliating the lips among other uses. Buying pure honey can be tricky since vendors want to make more money from what they have. However, here are four ways to test if honey is pure or fake:
1. Using a matchstick
This test is done using either a matchbox and a matchstick or a lighter and a tissue paper. A matchbox dipped in pure honey will light up while that dipped in fake honey will not light up. A tissue paper dipped in pure honey will catch fire while that dipped in fake honey will not catch fire.
2. Using a glass of water
Take a glass then pour in some water. Add your honey into the glass of water. Pure honey moves at the bottom of the glass while fake honey mixes with water.
3. Using vinegar
Pour some few drops of vinegar in a mixture of water and honey. If this mixture forms a foamy substance, then the honey if fake. Pure honey doesn’t turn foamy.
4. The swirl test
Swirl a mixture of honey and water in a clean bowl. If you swirl this mixture for long without seeing a honeycomb shape, then know your honey is fake.
