President Uhuru Kenyatta landed at the rural home of opposition leader Raila Odinga in Opoda, Bondo, Siaya County on Friday, ready for the final leg of his 2-day tour of Luo Nyanza.

He was hosted for breakfast by both Odinga and his wife Ida, and is expected to accompany the former Prime Minister  to the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology in the same county.

The two are set to be awarded honorary doctorate degrees for their unity and national cohesion efforts, following their March 9 truce.

This will be after a session of an informal meeting between the leaders at Odinga's home.

After the university event, the opposition chief will usher the President to the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga symposium in Sakwa Bondo, where he will pay homage to the founding Vice President and departed opposition figure.

Reports on Citizen Digital indicate that the two will then head out for a meet the people tour where they are expected to hold a series of roadside public addresses.

President Kenyatta is also set to launch a water project in the county.

On Thursday, the President began his tour in Kisumu county where he launched the Universal Health Coverage pilot program.

This is his first tour of the region after their truce earlier in the year.
