Garissa Township MP Aden Duale has congratulated ODM Party leader Raila Odinga for his appointment as African Union special envoy in charge of Infrastructure.
Duale observes that Raila’s appointment is good for him, Kenya and Africa.
According to the Leader of Majority in the National Assembly, Raila’s appointment will market Kenya as development hub across the African continent. He said that Raila has the strength and experience to perform in his new duties at the AU.
“Raila’s appointment is good for Kenya and as leaders, we wish him well in his new mandate,” he said as quoted by a local daily.
Duale said that Kenyans will be looking on Raila to push for key infrastructural development projects in the country and Africa as a region.
Raila’s appointment was confirmed last week by AU chairman Moussa Faki.
The opposition leader has since accepted the appointment and will be in charge of the infrastructure docket at the AU.
Politicians across the political divide continue to react to Raila’s appointment with majority congratulating him.
However, Raila’s ODM party has refuted claims that his appointment will weaken the Orange party.
The party further makes it clear that his appointment does not stop him from taking part in the country’s politics.
Raila’s allies maintain that he will be on the presidential ballot in the 2022 general election.
