He harbors presidential ambitions, but Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka finds himself in an awkward political situation in his bid to keep pace with ODM leader Raila Odinga and Deputy President William Ruto in the battle for the Coast region.

With no Coast region political point-man with known political skills, there is no doubt that the former vice president will go into the 2022 political battle limping, something that could cost him the seat if he makes the second stab at the presidency.

The exit of former Mombasa Senator Hassan Omar set in motion Kalonzo's biggest political headache in the region that has of late emerged as a major battleground going into 2022.

Omar who established himself as a big political force at the Coast was Kalonzo's main link in a region where Raila has reined politically for one decade now.

To compound his political headache is TaitaTaveta Governor Granton Samboja's decision to publicly back the DP in the State House race.

Being one of the two Wiper Party elected Governors in the country, Samboja was seen as Kalonzo's new savior. But now, it is back to square zero.

Long seen as Omar's replacement in the Wiper Party fold, Kisauni MP Ali Mbogo has also disappointed the former Vice President.

Now emerging as Ruto's main man in Mombasa, what next for Kalonzo?
