Unlike these days where critics of news extravaganza claim our screens are full of bimbos, there was a time when the content was the basic requirement for one to appear on TV.

During those happy days of watching TV, dressing and physique was nothing.

But it seems our managing Editors within newsrooms have been swayed by Herbert Marshall McLuhan who said the medium is the message.

Men don’t care about the message, their only want is the figure reading the news.

Here are the faces old school guys are missing:

1.    Esther Arunga

She had a killer voice and full of brains. Every Nairobian in town was annoyed when they heard that she had been seduced and swept off her feet by bad boy Quincy Timberlake.

2.    Badi Muhsin

This guys Swahili was tops. He remains one of the well-behaved media personalities Kenya has ever heard.

3.    Catherine Kasavuli

Those who have worked with her say she is a brilliant figure. She remains Kenya’s number one TV girl as she was among the first to start tv news reading.

4.    Janet Kanini Ikua

May the Almighty God rest her soul in peace! Kanini was superb TV girl. She was down to earth and the glamour never got into her head. Her bubbly news reading days are still etched in many peoples’ minds.

5.    Julie GichuruJulie will go down in history as the TV girl who never had a scandal during her days as a news reader. Her brilliant interviews with big shots and grasp of issues expose the current crop of cat-walking bimbos!
