Police officers in Makueni are investigating an incident where a 50-year-old man was found murdered in Makutano village, Kibwezi sub-county of Machakos County.
Nthongoni location chief Ruth Muthoka who spoke to hivisasa.com on phone, Saturday, said that the man had deep panga wounds on his head.
"The man is called Mwania Mutuku, I was notified about the issue at around 7 pm on Friday by members of the public where I headed to the scene," said Muthoka.
"The ambulance had arrived to take him to the hospital but doctors confirmed him dead before he could be wheeled into it, he died like 30 minutes after I was notified of the issue," she added.
The chief said the man died from bleeding due to the wounds inflicted on his body.
The motive behind the killing has not yet been established.
The body of the man was taken to Makindu hospital mortuary for preservation awaiting postmortem.
